Working to encourage children to
lead lives of expression, imagination, and hope.
In a
2002 survey by noted public opinion analyst Louis Harris, mentoring and tutoring
programs were asked what educational tools other than books would be most useful
in enhancing a child's education. The number one choice was art supplies.
First Artists was created in response to this need. First Artists
is a national nonprofit dedicated to inspiring creative expression by providing art
supplies to children from low-income families.
To test the First Artists concept, we ran a very
successful pilot program in December 2002, distributing more than 58,000 art projects around the country.

We are now expanding First Artists to bring even more art supplies to the children
who need them nationwide.
As First Artists grows, there are many ways to
get involved.
